if you start a bussiness you expect returns from it. you are competing with others in the same market. privatised colleage in other states doesn't have any restriction. so if you make 50:50 and increase fees by three times for NRI, who the heck will come and join in kerala? they will go to Karnataka or Tamil nadu.

why can't the govt get some tax for every admission from the privatised colleage with that money start govt colleage(s) for poor kids? I do beleive currently there are many govt colleages for the merit list. no one telling to increase the fees for those colleages. more over some survey showed that 70% students for the Engineering/Medical students are from well settled family and enjoying the free education.

any western country you dont see this and poor kids are studing with loan and repaying it when they get their salary. this way kids will study the course because the money they took for the education has to be paid back by yourself.

if students pay money, you wont get SFI/KSU party members, because if you screw your course, you will be bankrupted. so students will pay attention to what they do!

I have seen many poor family kids study outside kerala with much more money paid in a non recognised colleges in karnataka/TamilNadu. why cant you tap that money spend in our state?

if we start colleges in kerala, many karnataka/Tamil colleges will be closed. those guys are paying hefty to SFI/LDF for stopping this private colleages. NOTHING MORE THAN THAT. I DONT KNOW WHEN KERALITES GET KNOWLEDGE!!!

dont think that 'am from a rich family. 'am a poor mukkuvan. yes really fisher man's son.

if you start a bussiness, will you pay half of your profit to Govt for no reason? I doubt about that. I see only one point from your news, Catholic Mission should not consider this as purely a bussiness. they are getting this money from poor families around the world by saying many reasons. so why they cant give some part of it to poor students? its up to them. its none of govts business to ask them to give back money.

But Catholic mission is paying money to many poor families around the world. probably their point is they dont want to give to the people those are not eligible for this!!!

you haven;t commented anything about who is getting the 50% reservation. if it is from merit list, as I said earlier, from many survey showed that 70% students are from well financed background family. why do you want to give free education for them.. for getting more SFI members???

- Why Govt cant give affordable loan to students?

- in a democratic country, judiciary interpret the laws and they supported the private management for their stand. now you dont have any right to demolish their private property. if you do so you are saying that you are above the law! ie kaiyoookkullavan kaaryakkaaran! I read somewhere that if you a good lawyer you can win any case. that means judiciary is not working in kerala( india?). come on buddy, rules are written by legislators. if there is loop hole in rule you fix it. then you dont loose case next time!

I agree that if Catholic mission can give some concession according to their finacial background for the merit list poor students will be a great help. for achiving that I dont think you should demolish their property.

Its a fashion in kerala to demolish someone else property. in fact I was there in many of such activity. that time I was reading only deshabhimani. that was my fault. after travelling many countries and worked with many people may be I got a different view!

I forgot to mention one more point.

Who is NRI?

- good amount NRIs low educated unskilled workers in Gulf countries.

- another good percentage Nurses working all around the world. in this category most of them from very poor family, studied nursing in TamilNadu/Karnataka private colleages because there were not enough colleages in kerala at any time.

- Doctors and engineers. there is not much difference here too. in 1985 I remember only FIVE engineering colleges were in kerala. so percentage of these category NRI is very limited.

now you are asking this NRI people to pay THREE times for their kids study? it daylight robbery sir! these people came out of kerala not because they want it. its because we dont have enough oppertunity. LDF/UDF govt did nothing to improve job oppertunities in kerala. they only worried about about how to stay FIVE years in power!

in wester countries, you pay $100(4000 Rs) for a round trip travel for a THREE hour flight. but going to any gulf countries from kerala is about 13,000Rs. ie $300 for one way. nobody is questions it! why govt is least bothered about those hard working people.

before opening market, we had only bajaj scooter and we need to wait to get one tooo. we paid what ever they asked for it!( its about 20,000Rs in 1990 I beleive). its more than a lakh in current price. after the market opening the price went down to what? i guess the scooter price is now probably 50,000rs. ie half the price of 1990.

thats the case with many business. check with telephone.

so if you want to improve things around you, you need investement. for getting investors, we need to creat an environment with moderate return for their investment. if not, you will be living a century old!

thanks a lot.

Mr Editor,

Dont think the investors are fools. They need returns for their investment, period.

50:50 rule someone has to pay money for management. you havent answered any of my question. simply saying that to increase the koza!

instead of fighting with this sort cases, govt may do some good things:

- Atleast get a way to collect the taxes. ie gold/textile sales tax.

NO ONE DARE TO TOUCH GOLD BUSINEES!

- take firm actions on every bribary cases.

- add a moderate tax for paid seats.

- make a two line railway from kanyakumari to kasargod and have a train in every half an hour. replace all long range buses. this will saves CRORES of rupees( petrol, vehicle, jobs) and human lifes tooo.. reduce traffics.

GOVT WONT DO THIS BECAUSE THEN YOU CANT BUSES EVERY YEAR!

- make Toddy as softdrink. like vine in Italy, Beer in Germany etc.
allow farmers to tap and sell it in authorised stores. right now toddy belongs to only one cast? I just cant understand this logic!!!

LDF WONT SUPPORT THIS. THIS COMMUNITY BELONGS TO LDF!

may god bless your wishfull thinking. if I have money, I wont start colleages in kerala, instead I will start in mangalore.
